Holy Basil Cold Infusion

Updated: Feb 25

Holy Basil or Tulsi is one of my favourite plant allies. I love growing it mainly to make cold infusions through the warm seasons. I simply add the flowery tops from when I prune my plants to a jar, top it up with room temperature water and leave it on the counter or pop it in the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight. It makes a delicious aromatic water with many healing benefits. Holy basil is adaptogenic (it assists our bodies in dealing with stress) and calming. It has a very marked action into blood sugar balancing. A great herb for those dealing with metabolic syndrome or even diabetes. Through these actions it can also assist in curbing sugar cravings. Although basil is found in every continent, holy basil is indigenous to India where it has been used for years to treat colds and flus amongst many other conditions. In the Ayurveda tradition it is known to promote purity and lightness in the body. The same healing benefits can be achieved from drinking a tea made from the dry herb 🌿
